Aqua Forest is a physics simulator wrapped into a game. There’s two basic game modes, the Free mode which lets you play around with different particles and mass, letting you play around with physics and the interactions of different elements. Then there’s the Puzzle mode, which tasks you with solving certain criterias to advance to the next challenge. These tasks can include cutting rope, tilting the iPhone to guide water to a location, plugging leaks, setting objects on fire, and much more.
It’s pretty nice to go through to see all the different physical interactions, however the Puzzle is too easy. It’s more of a training mode to get you used to the different elements so you can play more in the Free mode.
Graphically, it’s not terribly nice-looking. The interface looks like a rush job, and the different elements can be confusing. For example, powder looks like snow, and sure doesn’t seem to act like powder (dirfting to the ground, instead if drops like a rock.) There’s no sound effect or music, although you can play your own music library while playing Aqua Forest.
Essentially this is more of a rushed demonstration of the OctaveEngine; a rather expensive one. You can play a free version of this game, called OE Cake, on both Mac and Windows.
