Microsoft has mandated that any Xbox Live apps must be free. There’s no mention whether or not Microsoft intends for an official Xbox Live app. Currently there are already three apps that are aimed at letting you stay updated of your Xbox Live information. All 3 listed apps below used to cost money to purchase, but 2 are now free.
In this case, Microsoft evidently has no problem with the applications themselves, just with developers charging cash money for them, so it’s really looking out for you here. If you’ve held off on trying one out, we’ve included links to the three we could find (one isn’t free yet, but we expect it will be shortly). Take ‘em for a spin around the ‘net and report your findings back here.
- Xbox Live Friends, formerly iXboxLive (Was $0.99, now free)
- 133tPwn.com Xbox Live Friends Application (Was $7.99, now free)
- iLive (Not free, $1.99)
Of the three choices, 1337pwn.com Xbox Live Friends Application (pictured above) seems to be the best.
