If you’re 30 years of age or older, then you’ll likely remember those electronic LED football games that electronic toy makers sold back in the 70′s. Boing Boing Gadgets was told by Mark Helmuth that he’s developing a faithful rendition of those old hand-held electronic games with a version for the iPhone/iPod Touch for $0.99. It’ll be called, simply enough, LED Football.
I have developed a new application based on the 1970s electronic handheld football game. We have a working beta version ready for the iphone. … We plan to launch next week.

Haha, that’s amazing. In the screen shot it almost looks like they replicated the inconsistent light of the old LEDs. One can only hope.
Wow, I’m only 18, but there was one of these at my grandma’s and I used to play it whenever I went there. All my uncles would play it with me and complain about how games now-a-days are too complicated and “you just can’t beat simplicity like this”. I will have to show this to them.
I was 8 or 9 when I first came across one. Between LED football and the Atari 2600, I had plenty of gaming on hand at an early age.
truly awesome. kudos mr. helmuth.
