Belkin iPhone Joypod is Fake

TouchArcade recently touched upon a new 3rd party accessory for the iPhone that’ll add physical buttons for games, called the Joypod. ModMyiFone got in touch with Belkin and discovered that this rumor is false, and the image circulating around the net is fake. A Belkin representative said:

Thanks for the email! The “JoyPod” is as much of a surprise to you as it is to us! The “JoyPod” is not a Belkin product, but simply a false rumor. We have no plans to release such a product.

Meanwhile, iControlPad is still in the works, although it’s still not known whether Apple officially endorses this accessory.

Hey matt! Though the belkin Official pad may not be real I have seen something like it before.

Since apple doesn’t allow a third party hardware, one was made AND functioned with jailbroken apps. I want to saw it was running the NES emulator but I can’t recall.

Mind you this was on 1.1.4 not far from the 2.0 update. I tried looking for the video on Youtube but couldn’t find it. I’ll keep looking though.

There we go! I kept seeing these fancy renders and I remember seeing it in a much more “homebrew” style. There is a youtube video of the the snes emu being controlled with n actual snes controller so the one I saw must have been a chopped up controller mounted in a case before they refined the design.
