This one slipped by during the holiday rush — turns out that three of Konami’s four planned iPhone titles were released in December. Unfortunately, Silent Hill: The Escape ($7.99) is the only game from the company currently available to iPhone users in the United States — Dance Dance Revolution S Lite and a remake of Frogger are currently exclusive to the Japanese iTunes Store.
Silent Hill: The Escape — an odd mix of rail shooter and FPS — has earned a lukewarm reception thus far, with many reviewers claiming that the title quickly becomes boring and repetitive. Shame! Konami gives no word on whether DDR or Frogger will come Stateside, or when Metal Gear Solid Touch will be released anywhere in the world. I wouldn’t really worry about MGS’s chances of a U.S. release (it’s pretty much guaranteed, given the series’ popularity in the west), but DDR and Frogger seem much less likely.
