You can’t keep a good drug dealer down. As promised in an announcement last week that I foolishly assumed was a joke, designer Hardy Macia has taken several awesome steps in adapting his Apple-rejected drug dealer sim Prohibition 2: The Dope Wars into something more family-friendly.
Enter Prohibition 3: Candy Wars, ($0.99), a look at a disturbing future world where sugar has been declared an addictive substance and all candy is banned. It’s up to you, a renegade candy dealer, to distribute illicit jellybeans, lollipops, and sour tarts to a sugar-starved populace suffering under the oppressive rule of the FDA.
I love the way this played out. A few name changes made all the difference in getting Prohibition approved, apparently, as Apple accepted Candy Wars without question only a week after Dope Wars’ rejection. Great stuff. Maybe there’s hope for Gabo yet.
