Strawdog Studios, the developers of Geon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, have “finally come to [their] senses,” renouncing console development and revealing their very first iPhone project: Turbo Duck. It’s a decision that I fully support, and besides, I’m not about to argue with another entry in the burgeoning accelerometer-controlled rubber duck genre.
Turbo Duck is a game that places a hapless yellow duck in the middle of a bathtub minefield. Using tilt and touch controls, you must help him collect flags and avoid enemy boats and submarines. If you’re surrounded, you can boost out of harm’s way by harnessing the power of nitrous-fueled duck farts. Collect any bread you come across (“Ducks like bread!” the website reminds us), and if you’re lucky, you might just survive the 20 included levels with all of your rubber feathers intact.
Turbo Duck will cost $1.99, and will be available in the App Store by the end of this month.
