Every Friday, FingerGaming rounds up the best, worst, and weirdest free iPhone and iPod Touch games released over the past week in the iTunes App Store.
This week’s free releases include demo editions of iDracula and Ancient Frog, along with free full versions of EGGY and Cat Game.
- Race for Home Lite (Shawn Kollat)
Guide a little girl through a surreal backdrop of angels and devils using the power of her magic umbrella. Very pretty!
- Cat Game (Michael McMahon)
“Cat Game is a free video game for cats, based upon the classic ‘catch the laser dot’ game that cats have enjoyed for ages.” AGES! Claims to be playable for both cats and humans, though I don’t know if letting an animal claw at a fragile touchscreen is all that great of an idea.
- iDracula Lite (Chillingo)
This twin-stick overhead shooter once reigned atop the paid app charts, but has since dwindled in popularity. Time for a Lite version! If you’ve held off on buying it until now, playing this might help you decide if a purchase is warranted.
- Ro Lite (Roamular)
This rotation-based puzzler came out a while back, but the Lite version is new. Why not give it a try?
- iGlo Memo (Scholz & Friends Interactive)
This appears to be a Memory-styled card matching game. Based on a German brand of frozen fish sticks. I love the iPhone.
- Throw Paper (Nine Orchards)
I guess some people respond to boring lectures by throwing balled-up paper at the professor. Me, I’d just walk out and go play the Neo Geo machine at the arcade across the street from campus. I failed a lot of classes for some reason.
- EGGY (D4 Enterprise)
Hop and hop and hop across a black-and-white warzone in this port of a 25-year-old Japanese computer game. I can’t even get past level 1, but then again, I didn’t exactly try very hard.
- Attached Hakobo (BottleCube)
Shoot the little blue blockheaded guy onto envelopes to win. But don’t touch the cats. Don’t EVER touch the cats. Yeah, I don’t know either.
- Pinhole (pushplay)
Don’t play this — It’s a screamer application disguised as a game. Oops, I just ruined it. Might be fun to pass off on someone else, though. If you’re a jerk.
- Ancient Frog LE (Ancient Workshop)
A creative, nice-looking puzzler that really should be getting more exposure than it has been. Perhaps this free demo will help?
- CarNeko Free (Utagoe)
Kitty runs to the right. Touch the screen to make kitty jump. Why yes, this was designed by a six-year-old girl. How did you know?
