Niche console publisher Atlus will make its iPhone debut next quarter with the release of Droplitz, a pipe-twisting puzzler developed by Blitz Games. The title will also see release across the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC platforms.
In Droplitz, drops of water fall from the top of the screen onto the gameplay field below. From here, players must twist a series of puzzle pieces so that they collect the falling droplets and connect with adjacent blocks. Construct a full pipeline from the top of the screen to the bottom and the connected pieces will disappear and be replaced with new ones. The game features four different gameplay modes, including one that “lets you blow things up,” which is always appreciated.
Droplitz’ announcement seems to come as a surprise even for Atlus itself, who assures its fans in a recent newsletter that the game is still worth playing despite it not being a Japanese RPG. It’s a significant departure for The House That Shin Megami Tensei Built, for sure, but reaching out with an iPhone release could help to expand the company’s audience. Screenshots and a gameplay trailer are below.
