Free App Roundup, April 18th – 24th Edition

Every Friday, FingerGaming rounds up the best, worst, and weirdest free iPhone and iPod Touch games released over the past week in the iTunes App Store.

This week’s free releases include demo editions of Kamikaze Robots and Airport Mania, along with free full versions of Dark Nova and Land of the Lost: Crystal Adventure.

- Kamikaze Robots Free (Digital Chocolate)
Nanaca Crash meets the Incredible Crash Dummies, basically. Guide a disintegrating robot on a downhill journey, and try not to snap his legs off before you reach the goal. It’s surprisingly fun!

- Dark Nova (Dead Jim Studios)
Insanely complex space-trading game that’s way beyond my human comprehension. Seems decent enough, though, and it’s free for a limited time.

- Airport Mania First Flight Lite (Reflexive Entertainment)
The popular airport simulation/time-management PC title gets the iPhone treatment, with very playable results. I had fun with this one.

- Land of the Lost: Crystal Adventure (NBC Universal)
Wait, there’s a Land of the Lost movie? And it stars Will Ferrell? NNNRRRRGGGFFFFFFFF

- iGuerilla Lite (Alexandre Minard)
Man, this is one awful shooter. The first time you see a dog pop up will be one of the greatest moments of your life. It just kind of freezes in mid-air and wiggles in this completely non-threatening way.

- De Blob Lite (THQ)
From what I can tell, it’s pretty much Katamari Damacy without the collection aspect, and with multiple objectives in each stage. Love it!

- CastleGuard2 (Dave Young)
Hilariously inept third-person action-RPG. Within seconds of starting a game, I saw a skeleton swimming through the floor, after which the camera went insane and I died in a flurry of errant polygons. When I started over, I had negative two health points and couldn’t be killed. Amazing. I’ll be playing this one a lot.
