Robocalypse: Mobile Mayhem Coming to iPhone This Summer

Vogster announced that its Robocalypse franchise will make its way to the iPhone this summer. Robocalypse: Mobile Mayhem is an upgraded port of the original Robocalypse title released on the Nintendo DS late last year.

Like its DS predecessor, Robocalypse: Mobile Mayhem is a mission-based real-time strategy title featuring a cast of wacky, zany, and possibly sassy robot characters. The DS version performed decently with critics, earning a Metacritic-averaged score of 78 out of 100.

Vogster promises that the iPhone edition of Robocalypse will feature a touch screen-tailored control scheme, and will include online multiplayer gameplay.

It’s odd that the real-time strategy genre hasn’t seen much representation on the iPhone so far, considering that the similar tower defense genre remains such a popular choice with developers. If Robocalypse’s take on the RTS genre was a good fit for the Nintendo DS, the iPhone port might be worth keeping an eye on.
