Here’s a refreshingly original take on an underused genre. Self Aware Games’ Taxiball ($1.99) is a tilt-controlled racing game in which you must pick up passengers and take them to their requested destinations within a specified time limit.
I can’t think of many other games that successfully manage to find the fun in being a taxicab driver (outside of Sega’s Crazy Taxi series, of course), so Taxiball carves an interesting niche for itself in the App Store. The isometric pixel art and all-vocal beatbox soundtrack only seal the deal.
Taxiball features seven different cities, unlockable achievements, and online leaderboards and friends lists. A free Lite version is also available.
