Simon Jeffery, president and CEO of Sega of America, announced that he is leaving his position at the company in order to head up the newly established publishing arm of iPhone developer ngmoco.
ngmoco’s Plus Publishing group will offer a publishing platform for affiliated iPhone developers. Partners in the program will also have access to ngmoco’s upcoming Plus Network, an Xbox Live-like social gaming service for iPhone users.
Jeffery explains that his move to ngmoco comes in response to rapidly shifting industry trends.
“I’ve been in the video game business for a very long 22 years, and I’ve pretty much worked in big, established companies that whole time since the beginning,” Jeffery tells FingerGaming sister site Gamasutra. “People have stopped talking about the $25 million games, and we’re talking about the $25,000 games. That shift in gaming has happened remarkably quickly, and I really want to be part of that.”
