This weekend, in apt celebration of America’s birthday, the iPhone became two offroad racing games richer. Resolution Interactive brings us the ATV racer Dirt Moto Racing ($4.99), while Invictus Games adds trucks and buggies to the festivities with 4×4 Jam ($3.99).
Dirt Moto Racing presents a fairly straightforward take on the sport of ATV racing, offering a number of features and gameplay modes to keep things fresh.
Dirt Moto Racing’s campaign mode spans 8 tours, which include a total of 36 events. If you get sick of racing with other ATV riders, the game also features a series of time trials and a Freestyle mode that awards points for performing aerial stunts.
4×4 Jam, on the other hand, promises a racing experience “where things are not always taken too seriously.” Translation: its courses are checkpoint-based, with no track boundaries or man-made obstacles to kill your offroading buzz.
4×4 Jam includes three gameplay modes. Jam mode is a solo race that challenges players to follow the most direct route to each checkpoint. Off Road Race pits players against a gang of AI-controlled opponents, while Free Ride is a goalless mode that encourages the exploration of each of the game’s expansive environments.
