Prey Invasion Developer Bringing Duke Nukem 3D to iPhone

MachineWorks Northwest, the developer behind the iPhone-adapted first-person shooter Prey Invasion, announced that an iPhone port of Duke Nukem 3D is on its way to the iTunes App Store.

Unlike Prey Invasion, which was an entirely new game that simply used characters and art from the original Prey, the iPhone version of Duke Nukem 3D will be a mostly straightforward port of the original PC title. MachineWorks notes that Duke’s graphics have been filtered slightly to remove excess pixelation, but otherwise, the game itself will remain the same experience that PC gamers enjoyed in 1996, complete with churlish humor and ripped-off one-liners.

Duke Nukem 3D adopts similar control mechanics to those featured in Prey Invasion. Players will tap the touch screen to shoot, while slide-based control bars are used for movement and aiming. Duke Nukem 3D has entered Apple’s review process and will premiere in the App Store shortly.
