As covered previously, Konami has made good on its promise to bring a mascot-themed kart racer to the iPhone. Krazy Kart Racers ($7.99) mixes Mario Kart-styled multiplayer battle racing with many of Konami’s famous franchise characters.
Krazy Kart Racers includes six single-player racing modes, along with a six-player multiplayer mode playable both locally and over a Wi-Fi Internet connection. The game features 16 tracks and 10 playable characters.
Krazy Kart Racers’ weirdly varied character lineup continues to be a source of amazement for me, both for its obscurity and sheer inappropriateness. The roster includes Rocket Knight Adventures star Sparkster, Goemon from the Legend of the Mystical Ninja series, and yes, the physical embodiment of inner torment himself, Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 3 theme park mascot Robbie the Rabbit also makes an appearance, upping the creepiness factor significantly.
Other selectable characters include Frogger, Evil Rose (Rumble Roses), Takosuke (Parodius), Power Pro-Kun (Power Pros Baseball), and Penta (Antarctic Adventure, Yume Penguin Monogatari).
