Silent Swords Brings Stealth-Action to the iPhone, $2.99

Oniric Games’ first App Store release aims to fill a niche that few developers have attempted on the iPhone. Silent Swords ($2.99) is an original stealth-action title designed from the ground up with the iPhone platform’s capabilities in mind.

In Silent Swords, players control a ninja trapped inside the walls of a prison facility. Unfortunately for the guards, the prison’s hallways are filled with shadowy hiding places. The events that unfold should be fairly obvious.

Once players sneak up on an unsuspecting guard, a series of gesture-controlled sword slices will take him out. Players can also use shuriken to stun faraway enemies, and can use background objects as camouflage when spotted.

Silent Swords’ cartoonish presentation offers an interesting contrast to the grim and gritty environments that define other stealth-action games, and its touch-based gameplay seems like it would be a good fit for the iPhone platform. An official trailer is below.
