Galcon emerged as one of the App Store’s earliest successes, bringing Risk-like strategy gameplay to the iPhone with a real-time twist. Developer Phil Hassey has expanded on Galcon’s gameplay with Galcon Labs ($0.99), a sequel that features a collection of new gameplay types.

First up is Billiards mode, in which planets constantly move over the course of gameplay. Stealth mode will also prove to be a challenge for Galcon vets, as enemy ships are invisible in this new gameplay type.

Galcon Labs also includes Crash mode — which allows ships to battle and destroy one another in mid-flight — and Assassin, a multiplayer challenge that assigns each player a specific target to conquer.

As in the original Galcon, each gameplay mode in Galcon Labs is playable online with multiple players, and each features its own leaderboard.
