The beat-matching rhythm franchise sequel Tap Tap Revenge 3 ($0.99) has hit the App Store, and longtime fans will notice that it takes a very different approach to content than previous free-to-play entries in the series.
It’s worth noting that much of this content — including the app itself — is paid content. The game offers more than 100 free tracks from independent bands, but all other music from licensed artists must be purchased for in-game use.
The good news is that thanks to its new approach to downloadable content, Tap Tap Revenge 3 offers much greater variety to its music than ever before. Players can purchase playable music tracks from artists ranging from Blink-182 to Megadeth to The Smashing Pumpkins, along with the requisite amount of Weezer that must be included in every music game.
Over 50 artists contribute to Tap Tap Revenge 3′s launch lineup. The game offers a small selection of six-track packs from select artists for $2.99 each, with a larger number of bands contributing two-track packs available for $0.99. Developer Tapulous notes that additional tracks will be released every week, many of which will be available as free downloads.
