After the recent release of Rock Band Mobile, fans of the rhythm genre speculated that EA Mobile would eventually adapt the title to the iPhone. EA has confirmed these suspicions, announcing that Rock Band will make its way to the App Store later this month.
Rock Band for the iPhone will include 20 songs by artists ranging from the Pixies to Foo Fighters to Blondie. Players may choose to play the guitar, bass, drum, or vocals portion of each song by tapping a series of buttons in time to a set of scrolling cues. Score multipliers are awarded for successful consecutive hits.
EA is also adapting the franchise’s cooperative band gameplay, and Rock Band for the iPhone will allow up to four players to jam to any of the game’s songs simultaneously over a Bluetooth connection. As in the console versions of Rock Band, users will be able to hear the other players’ mistakes and assist struggling bandmates in difficult sections.
EA additionally announced that the Command & Conquer series will make its App Store debut later this month. Command & Conquer Red Alert adapts the classic 1996 real-time strategy title to the iPhone with an all-new control scheme optimized for the platform.
In the iPhone version of Red Alert, players will be able to zoom in and out of the action with a new pinch-zoom feature. Touch-based controls will allow players to select multiple units at once and guide them with a series of taps.
Command & Conquer Red Alert includes 12 levels and two separate campaigns for the Soviet and Ally factions. Red Alert will be available in the App Store on October 23rd.
