Buster Bros. is one of those franchises that is familiar but still relatively obscure, and is frequently remembered as “Oh yeah, that game!” In this case, that game is the one where you shoot upward at screenfuls of bouncing bubbles, each of which splits into two smaller halves when popped.
Buster Bros. has previously been translated to the iPhone unofficially in titles like Buster Boy, but the series now has an officially licensed App Store release with Player X’s Pang Mobile ($2.99).
Pang Mobile keeps the series’ traditional globetrotting theme, with each level featuring a different scenic background or famous landmark. To save the area from the looming threat of giant bouncing bubbles, you must pop them using a variety of different weapons and power-ups.
Pang Mobile includes 50 levels in World Tour mode, along with an Infinite Challenge mode that challenges players to survive for as long as possible in a looping set of difficult stages.
