ngmoco Releases Free Online FPS Eliminate Pro

eliminate

ngmoco has released what it claims is “the first online FPS that fits in your pocket” — the free, microtransaction-supported Eliminate Pro.

Eliminate Pro requires a 3G or Wi-Fi connection to play, and contains no single-player campaign. ngmoco has created a robust online community to ensure that players will find plenty of online competition, however. Players can send Push Notifications to challenge friends, and statistics and achievements are tracked through ngmoco’s Plus+ network.

Eliminate Pro is unique in that the experience is entirely free, and all paid content is optional. Players advance through the game’s ranks by earning credits in battle. These credits can be used to purchase and upgrade weapons, as well as to improve character stats.

The catch? Players will only earn credits while they have energy remaining in an energy bar. The bar gradually decreases over time, and will completely drain after a few play sessions. Once players run out of energy, they will still be able to play, but will no longer earn credits needed for improving characters and weapons.

While the energy bar will regenerate after a set amount of time, players may refill it instantly by making an in-app purchase. Energy refills can also be earned by completing marketing offers — a tactic previously used in applications at Facebook and other social networking sites.

It’s an interesting approach for ngmoco, and it could ensure a steady stream of revenue if it attracts a dedicated community of hardcore players. Depending on whether Eliminate Pro is a success or not, many more iPhone titles may adopt similar strategies in the future.

its a very awesome game very well made but only big downside is you have to wait nearly full day for energy to regenerate. but for the price they ask for 975 power cells (for 29.99$) i think its well worthwhile to purchase if you do have the money. it does take some getting used to for the aiming part but that can be adjusted in the options. totally suggest practicing a few times against the bots before doing world play seeing as some of the players already have 400+ kills.

“the first online FPS that fits in your pocket” isn’t exactly true, iFPS Online was a first person shooter for the iPhone that came out back in March, it’s free, but you don’t have to pay for energy either.

People wake up,
It’s time to wake up and see this ngmoco scam for what it is.
I think Eliminate pro is a great game, (not the best in the world- but that’s not the point). But what ngmoco is doing here is openly milking the people who want to play the game off their cash.

Yes I know the game is for free.
Yes I know that you can play without buying energy cells; if you are willing to wait through 12 hours of free recharge so that you can play for 5-10 mints. YES!! your energy level winds down in 10 mints max!!!
But look at the big picture, this whole thing is WRONG.

2 days ago I paid 9.99 euro (15 USD) on some power cells thinking that I am paying to play the game for good without having to worry about energy anymore.
Well you see, nothing ever mentions that you are spending real money to buy virtual DISPOSABLE power cells. And the problem in all this you ask?

Well, if you play eliminate pro for 1 hour per day (using power cells to recharge) you end up using around 9.99 euro worth of power cells per week. That’s more than 500 euro, 746 USD for the whole year.

Well, I dunno about you, but I’m no millionaire, and frankly no game on the planet deserves that much money.

What ngmoco is doing here, is discretely and dishonestly getting you addicted to a game so that they can put their hands in your pocket.

This kind of business practices shouldn’t even exist. Apple, you started this, you gotta put an end to it.

I would rather pay 20 euro to own and play a game as much as I like rather than get caught up in “it’s a free game – what are you complaining about bullshit”.
It’s a good thing that for 9.99 euro you can still buy ANY other game in the app store for good to play for 24 hrs if you wish!!!

Wow guy talking about money your stupid. You only pay of you want to leval up faster so you only fight people around your leval and skill soooo and after you buy everything what would be the point of paying? Your whole scheme is retarded. I’m leval 17 and win almost everygame. And I’ve never payed. And own custom gear.

When out of energy I like playing with friends for fun. Because if you fight someone stronger and kill him your skill goes up more than beating someone weaker.

The game is just well thought out and people that hate don’t understand what’s going on. I can play all day and add friends upgrade everything without spending a dime.

I wouldn’t want to play and be fully upgraded right away anyway that takes the fun out of accualy earning it by playing through the game
