PopCap’s match-three puzzler Bejeweled 2 has skyrocketed in popularity after a recent update added Bejeweled Blitz, a gameplay mode originally released as a Facebook application. The title finishes as today’s top-grossing game in the iTunes App Store, as Gameloft’s arcade-styled racer Asphalt 5 trails at second place.
JellyCar 2 drops to fourth place after topping the charts last week, with Rock Band rising up to capture third. Tetris also moves up this week, while Activision’s first-person shooter Call of Duty: World at War Zombies finishes its first week of release at sixth place.
ngmoco’s free-to-play Eliminate Pro again finishes as a top-grossing title this week, with a dedicated group of players generating a steady stream of microtransaction revenue. Scrabble returns to the top ten at ninth place, meanwhile, as Doom Classic closes out today’s results at tenth.
