Longtime Macintosh gamers may remember Spin Doctor, a puzzle-strategy game that came bundled with more than a million Performa computers in 1995. Seth Lipkin and Darrell Myers, originally with developer Calisto, have now brought Spin Doctor ($1.99) to the iPhone with new levels and updated graphics.
In Spin Doctor, players control a rotating wand that can move around a playfield by connecting to nearby pegs. Timing and strategy are crucial, and players will need to avoid traps and trigger switches on the way to each level’s exit.
The iPhone version of Spin Doctor includes 106 levels at four difficulty settings. A free Lite version is also available.
If the game sounds only faintly familiar, check out the video below of the original Mac version — if you’re like me, it’s bound to bring back memories of playing The Oregon Trail and Spectre at your old middle school’s computer lab.
(And if you’re really like me, the title has already triggered an infinite loop of “Two Princes” that will play in your head for the rest of the day. If that’s the case, I’m very sorry.)
