ROOT9 MediaLab has ported the first entry in its popular YetiSports Flash game series to the iPhone. YetiSports: Pingu Throw ($2.99) expands greatly on the simple penguin-bashing premise of the original title with all-new goals, items, and gameplay modes.
In Pingu Throw, players must hit a penguin with a baseball bat and guide its ensuing mid-air flight. Make its flight an especially lengthy and graceful one, and you’ll earn a high score.
The iPhone port of Pingu Throw features tilt controls and a new level-based gameplay progression. Each stage features optimal flight paths to follow and items to collect. 27 levels are included in all, spread out across 9 difficulty levels.
In an unusually convenient gesture, ROOT9 also provides a free online trial version of YetiSports that simulates the iPhone version’s gameplay. While you’re there, you might also want to try out the free version of ROOT9′s somewhat terrifying iPhone title Klaus, which is also available in the App Store as a free download.
